Our road based tours are run by Peter, a wildlife photographer who lives in Lochaline and knows these peninsulas inside out. They can explore the amazing Morvern Peninsula, described by the BBC Natural History Unit as ‘The best kept secret in Scotland’, the amazing Isle of Mull or the wonderful Ardnamurchan Peninsula.
What we look for is up to you! These are always private tours, so our targets are down to you. Most guests come for the Otters, and a day searching the Morvern shoreline with some photography coaching is our speciality, but we can just as easily look for Dragonflies in the mountains. Whether you want to look for Eagles, Owls, Harriers, small birds, insects, Otters or Red Squirrels, just get in touch to let us know what you want to see.
Otters of Morvern
Otters are one of the real highlights of this tour. Morvern has a healthy otter population and very few other visitors, especially in the summer months, so we can usually spend time with otters without crowds of other photographers. That means we can work with the animals patiently and without disturbing them.
Finding otters is all about fieldcraft: reading the tides, the wind and the shoreline, and knowing when to move and when to stay still. A big part of an otter day with us is learning that fieldcraft, with photography coaching along the way, so you get better encounters and better pictures.
Itinerary
Tides will often dictate where we leave from and at what time, but we can discuss what is best for you. Typically we will leave from Lochaline at 0900, but could just as easily meet you on Mull or somewhere closer to Ardnamurchan if that’s more appropriate for where you are staying.
We will build in a lunch stop each time at a cafe or similar.
