We motored out of Lochaline with a bit of wind in the air hoping the sea state would be nice and calm. It was one of those days that really surprises because the wind direction suggested rougher conditions in the bits that were calm and the areas we would expect to be calm were a little choppy, but that’s the unpredictability of currents! Still, it was lovely out and we were treated to a fab afternoon on the water.
We started off motoring over to the Sound and I’m pretty sure we heard the first calls of chicks in the nest.

After a while with the eagles, we motored towards Craignure and stopped briefly at the Golf Course and were treated to a fresh born and very early Common Seal pup – so cute! After this, we passed by Craignure in search of cetaceans. We passed close by to Duart Castle and headed towards Lismore lighthouse as this is often a good spot for them. Sadly no Dolphins out today.
We then headed back towards Morvern and saw a distant White Tailed Eagle before going round the point to see the bulk of the seals. Lots of female common seals looking close to being ready to pup, which is exciting.
A swift 20 knots home and another successful day wrapped up on the water
